The character I would most like to be like would have to be Gerald because he had a really hard life and he had to deal with allot of thing that went on in his life like having the most important person in his life die. Even though he had a hard life he still what grew up to be a hard working person that cared for his new little sister Angel. And what the step dad Jordan had done to her. He stood up for her and helped her through the toughest times in her childhood as a 7 year old. And he got help by telling the truth to a person he trusted, and knew that he wouldn't tell. Jordan is no longer in their lives because of what Gerald did for his little sister.
How did what you read today make you feel? Why?
In the chapters I just read I felt that Gerald did the right thing in telling the truth to protect his little sister, and his family from their step dad who abused and tried to hurt Angel the little sister. And I feel that they will have a better life without Jordan because he caused many problems in there lives and hurt many people including his family. I feel sad for Angel and all the pain and suffering that she has been through especially because she is a child and a child should not go through something like that. I also feel bad for Gerald because he went through something similar by not having a father and his mother didn't pay much attention to him.
What other character(s) beside the main character is really important to the story? How and why?
I think that another character that is very important to the story is the mother Monique. Because she acts like Jordan is doing good things for them, but deep down inside she knows that he is a bad person and that she wants the best for her children and she doesn't want any trouble in there lives. She wants her children to grow up forgetting about there past and all that they have been through and grow up to be successful in everything they do. She is the mother of her children she should know what would be the best for them and that is not by having an abusive husband in their lives.
I defiantly agree with you, Gerald is basically a parent to Angel, I mean it's hard for a child to take on responsibilities like protecting someone, or caring for someone, when really someone should be caring for Gerald since he is a child. I also agree with you agree to the good actions Gerald made, for telling someone about there awful secrets they had in side of them for years, the secrets of being abused from their parents. I also wonder the same, why didn't Monique do anything? She wanted the best for her children, but then why didn't she call the police that her children were being abused? Why did she just stand around, did she really think Jordan was teaching good lessons to the kids? Did she really love him?
