TKAM post #4 chapters 18-24

                                                                    Jem

Today Dill, Scout, and I snuck out to go see the trial father has been the lawyer for. There were no seats were we were suppose to sit, so Reverend Sykes snuck us up to the balcony where the colored people sat. We sat in the back to prevent Attics from seeing us. The case was about this nineteen year old girl named Mayella who accused Tom Robinson of beating and rape. Father was the lawyer for Tom Robinson. Mr. Gilmer questioned Heck Tate who says on the night of November 21, Bob Ewell urged him to go to the Ewells house and that Mayella had been raped. Mayella told him that Tom Robinson had raped and beaten her. Next father cross-examines Mayellas father who said he had gone to get kindling, when we heard his daughter yelling he reached out of the house and saw Tom raping Mayella. She claimed someone hit her in the eye but from the side of her face it had to be someone who punches with there left hand and Tom wasn't that person. It was improbable

When it was Mayellas turn to be asked questions she looked frightened, he face looked of apprehension, if i was up there i would be obscure what to do. Probably cry because it would be so scary up there where everyone is staring a you and your forced to answer all the questions. A while after it was time to take a break. Dill, Scout and i went out side to find Mr. Dolphus Raymond, he was drinking out of a paper sack as usuall. I asked his what was in side. He told Dill to take a sip, he did. Scout and I freaked out. Dill! why would you drink such a thing? But Dill said it was just coca cola. Mr. Dolphus Raymond told us he lies about always drinking so he had a reason for the way he lives and his lifestyle. Next thing we know its time to go back in the courtroom.

As we take our seats we see Calpurnia rush in and hand Atticus a note. The note said that we had gone missing and her or aunt Alexandra couldn't find us anywhere. As Atticus looks up to find us sitting in the balcony he calls us down. He said we must go home. I told father Dill, Scout and I didn't want to leave. We wanted to see what was going to happen in the case. Father finally gave in and told us we were allowed to come back, but we must go home with cal and eat supper first. We went home and ate supper. Then hurried back to the courthouse. At the end of the day Atticus and Tom lost there case. Tom was charged with capital punishment and would have to loose his life. I thought i was a crazy thing to do. Just because he is accused of something he did not do, he has to get killed. That is unfair, i knew this was inevitable because Tom Robinson is black. I was trying to sustain the tears.

TKAM post #3 chapters 13-15

                                                                 Atticus

Today, Scout and Jem's aunt, Aunt Alexandra came to visit. She explains that she has to stay with us for a while so that Scout can have a female in the house. She said it will be a good thing for Scout and that she needs a "female influence" in the Finch family. I was pensive about this idea, i don't know if Alexandra is the right person for this, She thinks she's infallible. Although, Everyone on maycomb felt very comfortable with having Alexandra here. The citizens made her feel at home by baking her cakes and having her over for coffee. After a while around Alexandra, the kids seem to be laking pride of her. She tried to convince me lecture the kids, she told me i needed to take better care of them. I think i know how to take care of my own children! But, i decided to talk to them anyway and it ended emerging Scouts feelings and tears.

While i'm preoccupied with my trial as a lawyer, i don't need to have any more distractions. One day, Scout tried to ask me what "rape" is, i answered in a way she wouldn't understand. She heard that word from a trip to visit cal's church. Alexandra got very upset and told them that there were not allowed back there.  Later, she tries to explain to me that i should get rid of, Cal. I refused. That night, i heard Jem tell Scout not to antagonize Alexandra. I think that might be a good idea.

Scout got angry and decided to pick a fight with Jem, i broke it up and sent them to their rooms to go to bed. Later on, Jem comes to me and tells me that Dill had escaped from home and came to visit us. I told Scout to get Dill some food, He said he was starving. Scout said that Dill ran away from home because his parents don't pay enough attention to him. After he eat, they all went to sleep. The next day i took the car into town, to find that Scout and Jem were following me. I was in-front of the maycomb jail reading the newspaper. Meanwhile, i saw Jem, Scout, and Dill from a distence. As they came closer i ordered them to go home. Jem refused. Later we all headed home.

I saw Jem and Scout pass by today on there way home from school. Those kids should be more kind to an older lady like me. Im always nice to them, well when im in the mood. Those kids always think of me as peril and cantankerous but i contradict. One day Jem came by to talk, i was feeling a little different and a little angry. I told Jem that Atticus was not any better that niggers and trash he works for. I really didn't mean to say such a hurtful thing i was just on some medication and i was not feeling normal but i tried to inconsporarie it. The kid got very angry with me and decided to destroy all my camellia bushes. I think he should deserve a punishment but i was not inaudible. The punishment that was given to him was that he had to come to my house everyday for a month and read to me. Scout decides to come along, Jem could use the extra help. Every session is longer than the one before, Jem deserves that kind of punishment for what he did. The sessions end quickly then Jem is free to go on with his life. I bet he really dislikes me now. A month after he's sessions where over i got even more sick, I died later that month. After Jem finds out the truth of what was really going on and the reason behind the different emotions i was having he felt uncomfortable, he was very upset at himself that he treated me with such bad manners, he didn't know what was going on. TKAM post #2 chapters 4-8

Hi, i'm Jem Finch. I live in Maycomb with my father, Atticus and my little sister Scout, she can be very quibbling. The other day Scout came home from school she told me she had passed by Boo Radley's house and she saw a piece of tin foil istuck inside a tree hole. She said she stuck her hand in there to find two pieces of chewing gum. She had eaten them both! I thought she had gone crazy! I panicked and made her spit it out. Who would be dumb enough to eat two pieces of chewing gum found in a tree in front of the Radley's house?! Scout, thats who. However, on Scouts last day of school we had both found two Indian-head pennies and decided to keep them, we were unanimous.

Summer is here! Dill returns to Maycomb and we begin with playing out games again like the one game where we roll eachother in a tire. On Scouts turn, i pushed her and she rolled down and infront of the Radley's place. Scout and I both panicked. After the incident it sparked me to think of another game called "Boo Radley". as the summer passes on, there game becomes more complicated considering it was the Radley's. Soon enough, father catches us playing and asks is if our game had anything to do with Boo Radley. I lied and said no. I wonder if it is still safe to play this anymore? Hes tormenting g us with his secrecy.

One day, Scout and I planed to sneak over to the Radley place and peek through a loose shutter. Suddenly, we see a man with a hat on, We were frightened. We tried to evasion him. We both escaped under the fence, but as we were doing so my pants got caught and i was forced to kick them off leaving them behind. A few days later we had experienced our first time in snow! We made a snowman that looked quite similar to Mr. Avery. Father was impressed how well we did. That night, father woke up Scout and I and told us to go outside. Come to find Miss Maudie's house was on fire. It burned to the ground. Someone had draped a blanket over scout as she watched the house in flames. Father asked her who it was and Scout had no clue who did that. Later, i foudn out it was Boo Radley who did such a thing. Scout nearly threw up when she found out. After, Miss Maudie was in excitement. She told us how she hated her old home and how she was already planning to build a smaller house and plant a larger garden. I thought that was kid of tyranny.
