Hello, my name is Jean Louise Finch but my nickname is Scout. I am in first grade. I live in Maycomb with my older brother named Jem and a father named Atticus. Unfortunently, my mother died when I was two and the times I spent with her when I was younge surly faded. I am very smart for my age, I love to read. My dad says I'm really good at reading. Im always playing with my older brother and my friend Dill.
I was excited to start school, after I finally got to school I found that my teacher Miss Caroline, seemed to be displeased that I already knew how to read and I was good at it. She told me to tell my father to stop teaching me how to read. I was very confused. I dont think Miss Caroline likes me all that much since im good at reading. Later, Miss Caroline found that Walter Cunningham did not bring a lunch and she offered him a quarter hoping he would pay her back, unfortunately she did not realize that he couldn't afford to pay her back he was very poor. As I tried to explain to her she got even more frustrated with me, so frustrated that she smacked my hands with a ruler. I dont think I like school as much as I thought I would, i really dont want to come back here.
Later that day I told my father we couldn't read together anymore because of what Miss Caroline said and I told him I did not want to go to school anymore. He didn't go to school and he turned out fine. He told me that I had to go to school, but that he would keep reading to me as long as i didn't tell Miss Caroline. I liked this idea! it was a compromise, said Atticus.
This is a great post, the events are very accurate! I like that you showed how Scout felt about the compromise, because it shows the relationship between Scout and her father. Maybe for your next post go a little further beyond what the book says and use your imagination for how the characters feel! Great job! (:

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hearing what you wrote about in Scout's perspective, however it's her perspective in the entire book. Maybe next time you should choose someone else like Jem, Atticus... Also remember to not summarize, but to give your thought on the situations. Great Job!!!!
